Las Hachas by Gaspar Sanz (1640 – 1710)
Grade 1- Beginner
Time 0:31

Las Hachas is a easy piece by Gaspar Sanz, an Aragonese Spanish composer and priest born in Calanda in the area of Bajo Aragón. Sanz became the dominant figure of Spanish baroque music, and has influenced several composers well into the twentieth century. This is the first Gaspar Sanz song I have posted, more to come in the future.

Technique
8 Bars. No Barred chords. Several note and chord suspension. Bar[5] has a series of right hand (mimi) on one string. Bar[6] has a series of thumb bass notes on a single string.

Tips
Las Hachas or the sword is not a difficult piece to learn. I find it a good warn up song being a short 8 bar song that uses pima for the right hand.
