Exercise- Pull Off

The Pull Off song. Not so easy but short. A handful of chords to remember and a good practice for left hand pull offs. Tarrega not only wrote numerous original compositions for the instrument, he also transcripted works from other composers like Bach. I hear a little bit of Bach’s influence in Prelude in G Major especially Part B.
Technique
Although played slow, make sure you land the chords on beat. Each phase has a pull off except Bar 8. There are only 2 parts and you play them AABBA.

Tips
Part 2 is harder then part 1. Take note of fingering. There’s some dissonance in the chords, keep them in tempo and suspend bass at all times.

I learnt Prelude 28 in G Major from Ben Bolt’s Tarrega in Tabulature. This highly recommended book comes in multiple languages (english, japanese, french and spanish). Ben Bolt features 25 songs of Francisco Tarrega and talks about hand techniques. Book include an audio companion cd and is ring bound so you can lie it flat.
