About

Hi! My name is Christian Liang. I am a TCK. (Third culture kid). I have lived in 5 countries by age 17.  Now I live in Malaysia. One thing that follows me wherever I go is music.

I made this blog to keep a journal of the songs i can have covered and for anyone who wants to pick up some free classical guitar tabs. Please check out my articles as I have included all the information I could think out regarding each song. tabs, videos, midis and tips. Please don’t be too judgmental on my playing, I make many mistakes in my video so I suggest using the tab provided for accurate reference. I am having a blast making this blog and I will definitely add more and more songs, so do subscribe to my blog.

I play guitar for fun and I am Not a professional -make a living- musician. I do teach part time in a school called minuetto in malaysia. I have my own web company specializing in websites and shopping carts. here’s more information on Netromedia, my company website www.netro.com.my

I hope you find my articles interesting and don’t forget to check out the free downloadable tabs and midis. I wrote some comments for each song and added left and right fingering too. Please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you. Enjoy!

Rules of my Blog

No Pick
Classical guitarists have their nails filed as picks. It’s easy to see which is superior using 1 pick or having 5 homegrown picks on the right hand. By the way, I don’t grow my nails.

No Acoustic Guitar
Many people think an acoustic is the same as the classical guitar. For those who don’t know the classical guitar uses nylon strings and has a broader neck. Acoustic is smaller and uses metal strings. On the classical guitar, picking with fingers is easy given the wide space between the strings. Strumming with fingers is smoother due to the softness of the nylon strings.

No Sheet Music
Copyright issue. Tabulatures or tabs are easy to read and it gives you the exact position where to place your finger on the fretboard.

My Best Advice
Practice, Practice, Practice. There are no other ways or shortcuts.

About the Grading
The grading is based on the system set forth by the ASTA (American String Teacher Association) Guitar Division. The grading is as follows:

grade 1-Easy
Short selections; two part texture or basic arpeggio patterns; a minimum of simple slurs; no barres; first position only.

grade 2-Early Intermediate
Mainly two part texture or arpeggio patterns with greater thumb movement than grade one; simple shifts between first and second position; slurs; no full barres.

grade 3-Intermediate
Chordal textures in common keys; some upper positions in conjunction with open string basses only; half-barres for short periods; simple shifts with guide fingers only.

grade 4-Late Intermediate
More extended pieces; more difficult position shifts; full barre for short period in simple fingerings.
